Fiddler on the Roof Move Over, Mrs. Markham Peter Pan Are You Being Served? Over the River and Through the Woods
Book by Joseph Stein, Music by Jerry Bock and Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick
Directed by Keith Soester
The setting for this memorable musical is Anatevka, a small peasant town in Czarist Russia. Tevye, a dairyman, and his wife Golde are one of the hardworking couples of the Jewish community trying to raise their five daughters "traditionally" as their forefathers did. After a pogrom, which takes place at the wedding of one of Tevye's daughters, the community realizes that their old way of life is changed forever and they set out to find new lives in new lands taking with them their few meager possessions and their abiding faith in their God.
This musical contains some of the most memorable songs in the
musical theater, including "If I Were a Rich Man," "Matchmaker,"
and "Sunrise, Sunset."

To Sylvie it's the "goose"
that she learned from Alistair, but to Philip, Joanna Markham's
husband, it's "a variety of geese," and 15 years of
marriage is just about undone along with everything else in this
wild zany free-for-all. Everything from Philip's business deals
with Bow-Wow Books and Alistair's near escape from Joanna's chiding
seduction to the naked G.P.O. girl and the specter of scandal
is hilarious. A lot of bedhopping occurs as Sylvie winds up taking
Alistair on "walkies" and the amazing Mrs. Markham gets
her man - her husband? It all takes place in an elegant top-floor
London flat in London.

The play is based on the same
characters and plots from the British sitcom that ran from the
late 1970's to the early 1980's. In fact, the script is essentially
the same as the movie. The department store gang tackles German
Appreciation Week and travels to Spain, amongst other wacky adventures.
Very punny and at times quite ribald, this play showcases all
of the colorful characters from the television series.

Nick is a single Italian-American
guy from New Jersey. His parents retired and moved to Florida.
His grandparents from both sides still live in New Jersey, and
he visits them every Sunday for dinner. This is the routine until
he has to tell them that he's been offered a dream job as a marketing
executive, and that he'll have to move away from his loving, but
annoying, grandparents. He tells them. The news does not go over
well. Thus begins a series of schemes to keep Nick around. How
could he betray his family's love to move to Seattle for a job,
wonder his relatives? Well, his grandparents do their very best
- that includes bringing to dinner the lovely and single Caitlin
O'Hare as bait. Stay tuned for a surprising ending to this hysterical
two-act comedy, fashioned after a Neil Simon hit.
